I am generally one of those awful people that has Christmas shopping mostly done in October, but this year I have barely started. I usually make my Christmas presents too. That’s not because I make great gifts; no, it’s because I’m cheap and really don’t like trying to shop in November and December. Once or twice during the Christmas season I will generally go to the stores just to remind myself how much I don’t like shopping in that intense, rushed atmosphere (of course, I have been accused of having too much testosterone when it comes to shopping—I want to get in, get what I need and get out). Anyway, the point of all of this is to share an interesting experience with you. Here is an entertaining way to deal with the frustrations of shopping this time of year, and apparently it has the benefit of being spread around too!

Last week I was doing the dreaded shopping and as I was moving down the aisle, another woman was moving towards me. She was clearly feeling a lot of frustration—it seemed to emanate from her—and I was in her way. Essentially this woman pushed me out of her way while at the same time managing to ignore my existence. It always amazes me how people can manage that. Anyway, I backed my cart away and said “you’re welcome, no problem” with no sarcasm in my voice at all—I said it as if she had said “excuse me.” Well, if looks could kill, I would have died around a thousand deaths in the initial look she gave me. But then you could see her mind working as she realized that I had not been rude to her at all. It was amazing to watch as realization dawned on her; I could almost see the thoughts running through her head. About 5 minutes later, I saw the same woman in another aisle and she had just smiled and said excuse me to someone else that was in her way—and then it was my turn to be amazed that I had made a significant impact on her.

So here is a great way to entertain yourself in the malls this season and to spread the love too.

It has been an interesting week. I managed to catch some kind of flu bug--which is rather remarkable, since I'm generally too slow to catch anything. But catch it I did, and it came with a massive headache that was so bad the medication I took didn't do a thing for the pain. It did, however, convince me that it would be funny to watch my head explode. Good times.

The next day, I managed to slip in the snow. Quite gracefully I might add. Now I have a very colorful knee. Perhaps I'll use the colors to inspire my next digital kit, and I'll call it "pieces of me"

I'm pleased the snowflakes were so popular and I will try to post some more this week, but I have some other commitments that I need to take care of 1st. I've had all year to do a 10 hour course--guess how much I've done so far? That's right, zip, zero, zilch (I really can be good at that procrastinating thing). So since the year is winding down I have finally taken a few days off work to get that done. I also have 3 ablums that are near completion and I promised I would write an article for the newsletter for the company I work for. Yup, no more procrastinating for me.

I have the joy of having both my daughters and sons-in-law here for the weekend. My daughters and I spent a wonderful afternoon yesterday shopping for wedding dresses; actually, it was only an hour--the perfect dress happened to be the 2nd one she tried on. Then it was looking for bridesmaid dresses--that was the third dress. Apparently, both my daughters know what they want and don't fuss about it.

I just got back from a wonderful family reunion. It was great to see all my relatives in one place. Naturally I brought home a camera full of pictures and a stomach full of food (I really shouldn't eat for at least a week now)!

I've been away a long time! The last few months have been...........interesting. Fortunately, I am the Queen of Make Do. Here are some of the highlights: Over the last two months, my computer crashed--it took a month to get it fixed (luckily, almost everything was saved);
My computer at work locked me out for a week (I was just starting to get used to being a myth--my name was there, but I just didn't seem to exist when I tried to do anything--I wonder if Santa Clause knows he's only a myth?);
My Doctor lost my file (I've made another appointment but we'll have to wait and see if I exist there again--lol);
The furniture I bought was "misplaced," but I did get half of it so far (I'm expecting the rest of it some time next week--I probably shouldn't hold my breath though should I?).

I'm thinking I need to stop blending into the woodwork!!

Sadly and tragically I lost my brother yesterday. Bill was the best brother anyone could ask for, he was every one's hero. You never doubted or questioned that he would be there for you. He had an amazing way of letting you know you were important to him without him saying a word, he just looked at you and you would know. Bill also had a wonderfully warped sense of humor and I'm sure he would have laughed had he received this card I was going to send him.
